Poltergeist (German for noisy ghost) is a term used to describe a supposed spirit or ghost that manifests itself by moving and influencing inanimate objects.
Reports of poltergeist activity typically feature heavily on raps, bumps, thumps, knocks, footsteps, and bed-shaking, all without a discernible point of origin or physical reason for occurrence. Many accounts also detail objects being thrown about the room, furniture being moved, and even people being levitated. Though rare, a few reported poltergeists have been purported to speak.
Poltergeist phenomena are a focus of study within parapsychology. Parapsychologists define poltergeist activity as a type of uncontrolled psychokinesis. Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis (RSPK) is a phrase suggested by parapsychologist William G. Roll to denote poltergeist phenomena. The longevity and consistency between poltergeist reports (the earliest one details the raining of stones and bed shaking in ancient Egypt) has left the matter open for debate within the parapsychology community. "Poltergeists" a book by Alan guald shows records of 500 cases throught only a certain time frame in history and claims that this is only the tip of the ice-berg, and there may be thousands reported throughout history and many more unreported in the literature (e.g., the famous Bridgeport, Connecitcut poltergeist was never reported in the literature).

Well so far on investigations i have been pushed, pulled, poked, scratched and had my hand held......Whats next!!!!

The word “Poltergeist” literally translates from the German meaning noisy ghost; my dictionary also suggests it is a mischievous spirit. That being the case then I could say that nearly all our investigations contain some form of poltergeist activity, be it loud banging sounds that appear to have no obvious source, or the feeling of having been physically touched or poked.

Would love to experience poltergeist activity, wouldn't that be fantastic!

Poltergiests in a number of instances have been overhyped, due to Hollywood films and such like. There are a few that I have come across that have been fairly nasty but nothing extraordinarily evil.
The way I look at it, spirits are the same as people in life. Some are good and some are bad, but rarely do you come across someone who wants to do you harm without a good reason.
As yet, I have never come across anything really truely bad.
